Ying Chang x 50m: A retrospective exhibition
Open daily 10am-6pm
14 - 22 September 2019
14-15 Eccleston Yards
New experimental concept store 50m has teamed with experimental artist Ying Chang to curate an exhibition of both past and present work, blending lines between art & design.
The exhibition will include an immersive installation of Chang’s work, featuring items for sale.
In her practice, the artist works with belief that the analogue practices will withstand the rapid movement of contemporary life and they still have resistance to the flow of commodities through our lives.
Many of Chang’s works were developed around conflating different materials and questions how we value objects depending on their materiality and the context in which we come across them, from the museum to the domestic, the perceived perfect to the damaged, and what our expectations are of different materials. Examples of projects include 'the journey', 'neolastic', 'malleable state'
The exhibition highlights Chang’s unique efforts to craft as well as the other emerging designers & artists supported by 50m. Furthermore, this initiative puts a light on the newly renovated Eccelston Yards area in Victoria.
Booking is not required and admission to the exhibition is free.
